Ate for the first (but definitely not the last time) in Girl and the Goose restaurant last night. It’s truly a hidden gem of a restaurant. Everything surpassed my expectations – the food, the service and the value for money. I was hugely impressed!

I went to this restaurant during Horse Show week in Dublin’s RDS with some friends. What a lovely restaurant. The menu is varied and really well priced. They have a special page for vegetarians with a choice of 4 starters and 4 main courses which really suited me. My friends were all meat eaters and they were delighted with the range of choice. Our food, both starters and mains, were really tasty and the service was very good also. They serve beer and wine but don’t have a full bar licence but the wine menu is also very good.
Booked a table here for 3 people on Tuesday night. Really nicely decorated, very cosy. Menu is really good,a lot of different foods that you don’t find in a lot of restaurants. Two very friendly & very efficient girls looked after the whole restaurant for the night. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.
Unfortunately we don’t live in Dublin,we were in the area for a match on Wednesday night. Looking for a nice night out with delicious food in Ballsbridge, this restaurant is definitely worth trying.
This was our first dinner in Dublin and proved to be the best not only here but throughout Ireland. Watch closely for the sign as it is a bit hidden although on the street. We were six without a reservation and were greeted warmly although the one waitress was very busy. Meals ranged from risotto, scallops, seafood salad, to sumptuous dessert. We are all foodies and all raved about our meal. Service was superb and friendly. Don’t miss when in Dublin.
My hubby found this place when we couldn’t get into the place we had initially picked and it was a wonderful choice. They brought us an Amuse of mushroom and fennel soup that was amazing! For an appetizer we had the chicken and duck liver pate that was so silky and creamy. My hubby had to try the beef and Guinness pie and I had a shrimp salad. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet which was a lovely change from most of the restaurants we had been to in Dublin.
This restaurant is up one flight of stairs , and is tastefully decorated throughout..with lovely geese featuring in the paintings and ornaments . The Menu has a wonderful selection to choose from and it was very competitively priced without any compromise on quality from my experience. We both had a delicious duck parfait with rustic French bread and cranberry and port jelly .. good indications for a delicious lunch to follow. While we both had heavier dishes not normally consumed for a summer lunch.. Beef and Guinness pie , and Lamb Shank, the presentation and flavors were so great that there was no regrets…
Despite the filling main courses we decided on an Apple Galette and Rhubarb and Strawberry crumble for dessert – both so worth it ! I can’t fault this restaurant- food was delicious, service was friendly and you have the distinct feeling that they are not trying to rip off the customer… a rare experience. They deserve to be successful and I hope to be back soon and share around the good vibes from this gem of a spot before that.
Just Go !

The Story of Girl and the Goose Restaurant
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to my restaurant. I know the name is a little unusual, but there is a bit of story behind it. I wanted to dedicate this restaurant to my little daughter Lea, and we couldn’t find the right name until my friend Ruth came up with logo based on my daughter’s toy – a wooden goose. After few days we came up with the idea of combining Lea’s name and her toy and we came up with the name Lea’s Little Goose. Coincidently, same night I was enjoying my time with a great customer of mine Peter from our Terenure’s restaurant and I mentioned that to him. He pointed me directly to Brother’s Grimm fairy tale The Goose Girl – and that was it – ‘Girl and the Goose’ was born and I am more than happy to share my ‘dream came thru’ in connection with fairy tale – this could be our secret fairy tale.
In the Girl and the Goose, my goal was to create a relaxed home like experience where anybody can enjoy my homemade traditional Irish dishes. All my dishes are prepared on order by using both traditional and modern cooking techniques from locally sourced high-quality ingredients. In this menu you will find hearty Irish dishes, great to accompany you during your romantic night out, family get togethers or casual dining.
Our aim is to provide you with the high quality food and wine in a warm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere without any fuss. If you have any recommendations to improve our services, please let one of my team members know and I will make sure that we will work very hard on making this restaurant better and better.
Thank you for choosing my restaurant and I wish you an enjoyable and memorable evening. – Bon Appetite!”
